Looking Ahead: Shaping the Next Chapter for Start Young UK.
Behind every programme, opportunity and young person we support is a team taking the time to ask an important question: how can we do more, and do it well?
Our Start Young UK team recently came together for our general planning meeting to reflect on the year gone by, recognise what is working well and look ahead to the opportunities and challenges that will shape the year ahead. The session brought together trustees, staff and key volunteers, creating space for honest conversations, shared ideas and a renewed sense of purpose.
Looking beyond the year ahead
A key part of our discussions was growth — both in how we reach and support more young people, and in how we continue to strengthen Start Young UK as an organisation.
For us, growth isn't simply about numbers. It is about creating more meaningful opportunities, strengthening the programmes we deliver and ensuring that more young people can access the support, experiences and connections that can help them move forward.
We also spent time considering how we can develop stronger relationships with partners and sponsors. Collaboration is an important part of creating sustainable opportunities for young people. By working alongside organisations that share our commitment to their future, we can create greater access to experiences, expertise and opportunities while building partnerships that deliver meaningful social impact.
Building awareness and widening our reach
Another important priority is awareness.
There are young people, schools, organisations and potential partners who may not yet know about the work we do or the opportunities available through Start Young UK. Strengthening our profile and communicating our impact more effectively will help us reach new audiences, build new relationships and create further opportunities for collaboration.
That means continuing to tell our story — not simply by talking about what we do, but by showing the difference that access, opportunity and support can make.
Turning priorities into action
The meeting gave the team greater clarity, focus and renewed momentum for the year ahead. Most importantly, it brought everyone together around a shared direction and a continued commitment to creating opportunities that empower young people.
There is plenty to do, but there is also a real sense of optimism about what comes next.
Our priorities are clear: support more young people, strengthen our partnerships, build greater awareness and continue creating opportunities that can make a lasting difference.
The planning is only the beginning. The next step is turning those priorities into action — and we're looking forward to sharing that journey with you.
