At Start Young UK, we believe that learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Some of the most valuable lessons are gained through new experiences, shared challenges and opportunities to build confidence in different environments.Â
That's exactly what our Thrive children enjoyed during a recent day out to All Star Lanes at Stratford Westfield and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.Â
The day began with an exciting trip to the bowling alley, where many of the children experienced bowling for the very first time. From celebrating strikes to encouraging one another after the occasional gutter ball, the atmosphere was filled with laughter, teamwork and growing confidence. It was wonderful to see every child willing to have a go, support their friends and celebrate each other's successes.Â

After enjoying lunch together, the group headed to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, one of London's most iconic community spaces. Exploring the park and spending time in the playground gave the children the opportunity to stay active, work together and simply enjoy being children in a safe and inspiring environment. The smiles, conversations and shared experiences throughout the afternoon reflected exactly what the Thrive Programme is all about—creating opportunities for children to grow socially, emotionally and personally.Â
No great day out would be complete without a special treat, so before heading home the children enjoyed a well-earned milkshake at Starbucks, providing the perfect ending to a memorable day together.Â
While the activities themselves were enjoyable, the greatest impact came from what the children gained from the experience. Every outing helps develop confidence, resilience, communication and positive relationships—qualities that support children both inside and outside the classroom. These experiences also help build a sense of belonging, encouraging children to try new things, work together and create lasting memories.Â
We are incredibly proud of every child who represented the Thrive Programme with enthusiasm, kindness and exemplary behaviour throughout the day.Â
Our sincere thanks go to the manager and team at All Star Lanes, Stratford Westfield, for their warm hospitality and for helping create such a memorable experience for our children.Â
Days like these are made possible through the generosity of our supporters and partners. Their continued commitment enables us to provide enriching experiences that help young people develop the confidence and life skills they need to flourish.Â
Together, we are creating opportunities, building confidence and helping every child realise their potential.Â
