Start Young UK is excited to announce the appointment of Derek James Leighton (DJ) as our new Deputy Chair Trustee. With a distinguished career in leadership, strategy, and project management, DJ brings a wealth of expertise and a dynamic approach to our Board of Trustees.
Currently serving as Chief of Staff to the COO of Commercial Banking at Lloyds Banking Group, DJ has excelled in delivering strategic value, managing complex projects, and leading high-performing teams. His extensive experience includes overseeing regulatory engagements, risk management, and performance improvement across various divisions.
DJ’s MBA qualification and his participation in the Bloomberg Future Leadership Programme further underscore his commitment to excellence and innovation. In his new role as Deputy Trustee, DJ will provide critical strategic guidance and leadership to help advance Start Young UK’s mission.
