The second session of our Elevate Programme in Manchester was an inspiring day packed with learning, creativity, and career insights. Through expert-led discussions, hands-on activities, and engaging networking opportunities, our young participants gained invaluable knowledge to help shape their future paths.
Exploring Diversity & Inclusion
The day kicked off with an eye-opening session led by Tony Meredith, who guided participants through the importance of diversity, inclusion, and individuality in the workplace. He encouraged students to recognize the power of their unique perspectives and experiences, reinforcing that diversity is not just a concept but a strength in any career.
Resilience & Career Journeys
We were privileged to hear from Michaela Mattinson BA(Hons) Dip RBCR CMgr MCMI, who shared her powerful journey at Barclays. Her story of resilience and determination resonated deeply, offering real-world inspiration on overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities. Her insights left participants with a fresh perspective on their own career aspirations.
Innovation & Entrepreneurship
The session took an exciting turn as Lilly Chatwin from Eagle Labs introduced the group to the world of tech careers, networking, and entrepreneurship. One of the highlights of the day was the Dragons’ Den-style pitch, where participants worked in teams to develop and present their own business ideas. Their confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills were on full display, proving that the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators is already on the rise.
Building Personal Brands
To wrap up the day, students took part in a speed networking session, designed to help them build confidence in presenting their personal brand. Engaging with professionals, they practiced their elevator pitches, asked insightful questions, and learned the value of making meaningful connections in their future careers.

The growth, enthusiasm, and ambition shown by this cohort continue to inspire us. Each session of Elevate is designed to equip young people with the tools and knowledge they need to take control of their future, and Session 2 was no exception.
